Red Alert 3 was originally announced by Mark Skaggs, VP and Executive Producer on the 6th of December 2004 in an email sent via the official mailing list. But following that email he subsequently departed EA and the team went on to develop other games.

The game will again use EA's SAGE engine, but for the first time naval battles will play a major part of gameplay. The singleplayer campaign is entirely cooperative online, and if you don't have any friends to play with you can choose from numerous AI personalities.
